Newsroom
The Newsroom is a wooden room: desks, broadsheets, analog boards, green desk lamps, and a press along one wall. The front wall carries story screens, with a tall headline board to either side. The boards scroll. Category desks follow the active sections along the side wall.
Walk the room: Newsroom.
Read without walking: Headlines.
What you can read
Stories are published pieces. A headline is what the wall shows. Opening a story gives you the piece itself: the headline, the body, and the sources attached to it.
A source line uses the attribution written for that story, or the source’s name when no special attribution is set. If a story has no sources, Realm does not invent an outlet.
Some stories are marked breaking or featured. The hub’s “On the wire” strip may show one breaking headline. The full set is in the room and on the headlines page.
When the live wire is connected, the room is marked as live. If Realm is showing a stand-in feed instead, it is labelled as a demo. Treat that label as part of the screen, not as a story.
In the room
Move until you are near a display. The prompt names the story and tells you how to open it: E or a click on a keyboard, Read on a touch screen. Esc closes the story and returns you to the room.
List opens the stories as a list without making you walk to each screen. Use it when you want to pick a headline directly.
The corner links go to the Trading Floor, the Spacedeck, and Headlines.
If the stories cannot be refreshed, the room says so and offers another try. The room itself still stands.
On the headlines page
Headlines is the same set of stories as a page. Open one to read it. Use this page if the three-dimensional room is uncomfortable, slow, or unavailable. You can still jump to the walkable newsroom from the header when you want to go back.
