Getting started
Open Scopa’s Realm. You land on the hub. An account is not required.
Find a room
Search rooms filters the cards. The placeholder is Name or purpose. If you have visited before, Recently visited offers those rooms.
How to visit is a short introduction on the hub, and again inside a room. It says an account is not required. The steps are: move, approach something and open it, use Change Room, and use Settings.
☆ Favourite on a card becomes ★ Saved room. That mark stays on this device. It does not change the room. Inside Change Room, the same rooms appear under Favourites.
Suggested first visit · The Garden opens the garden.
The rooms and their second buttons are listed in Overview.
If you enter a room
Give the room a moment to draw. A loading screen means the view is still coming up, not that the room is closed.
On a keyboard, when you are not typing in a field:
- W A S D or the arrow keys move you.
- Hold Shift to run.
- Drag to look around.
- Walk up to a door, a display, or a seat. When you are close enough, the prompt names it. It says Press E to open or Press E to inspect. A click does the same.
- Esc closes Change Room, an open record, or an inspection view. Esc also leaves a seat or a station.
On a touch screen, a pad moves you. Run toggles running. Drag the scene to look. The prompt is Tap Open or Tap Inspect, with a button for that action. You do not need a physical keyboard.
List, on the rooms that show it, opens that room’s records without walking to each one. It is not on every room. The Continental Shop uses Pantry in the room instead.
Change Room is on the right. It lists other walkable rooms and home. It does not list Headlines, Market, Pantry, Beer, or the other reading pages.
The Realm name in the corner returns you to the hub.
Your figure
The room controls include a Name, Male or Female, and Wardrobe. The name can be up to 24 characters. It is what other people see above you.
Wardrobe opens Player wardrobe. Room Default / Auto uses that room’s own uniform. An explicit choice updates your figure immediately and stays with you when you change rooms or come back later. The choices are Editorial, Exchange, Deck crew, Hotel uniform, Business wear, Astronaut, Flight suit, Agricultural workwear, Maintenance, Research coat, Data technician, Cowboy, and Saloon. Red Rock’s own uniform is Cowboy. The Rusty Spur’s is Saloon. While the wardrobe is open, you do not walk. Close returns you to the room.
Skin is Modern, Retro, or Vintage. Theme is System, Dark, or Light. Those change the page chrome, and they stay on this device.
Staff, shopkeepers, bellboys, townspeople, aliens, dogs, and robots show NPC above them. Players show their own names. Those labels stay visible even when the rest of the controls are hidden.
Other people
When a shared visit is available, other people in the same room can see you, your name, and your outfit. They do not edit the stories, filings, or catalogues.
Social opens Gestures and greetings. The gestures are Wave, Point, Clap, and Cheer. The preset messages are Hello, Over here, Nice, Ready?, Thanks, Good race, and Let’s go. They are for people nearby. You cannot gesture while you are seated or using a station.
A count beside Change Room is how many people are in Realm. A dash means that count is not available. The room still works.
Seats and stations
Walk up to a chair or a working station. The prompt offers Sit, Use control, Operate, or Observe. If someone else has it, the button says Occupied.
Once you are there, the prompt says Seated or At station, and E or Escape leaves. The button is Leave interaction. Some stations add a short explanation under the prompt.
Settings and the HUD
Settings is Visit settings. It says your preferences stay on this device.
- Graphics quality — Auto, Low power, or Full detail. Auto tells you which of those it is using. A manual choice stays in every room.
- Enable ambience or Mute ambience, and Ambience volume when sound is on. If audio is unavailable, the panel says so, and the rest of the visit still works.
- Follow distance, in metres.
Some rooms add inspection views in that same panel: West aircraft bay and East aircraft bay, Port spacecraft bay and Starboard spacecraft bay, Solar-system table, Living collection. Esc, or Return to player camera, leaves that view.
On a phone or tablet, the controls start hidden behind Display HUD. That button changes to Hide HUD when they are open. The choice survives room travel. A fresh visit starts hidden again. Movement, Run, and the labels above people stay available either way. The toggle follows a touch screen, including landscape. On a computer the controls stay visible, including in a narrow window.
Guided discoveries
Guided discoveries offers three optional routes: Explore the Solar System, From Grain to Pantry, and Inside Mission Operations. Progress stays on this device. You can pause, resume, or skip a step, and you can show a marker for the current target. A step can send you to the room it names. If a record is missing, retry or skip. You do not have to take a tour.
If the room will not come up
Use the second button on that room’s card, when it has one. You do not lose the material. Rooms without a second button are walk-only. Hotel Lobby’s second button is only the hub. Details are in Accessibility.
What you should not expect
On the wire changes with the newsroom, and it is labelled live or demo. These docs do not repeat today’s headlines. Realm does not fill gaps with made-up stories, filings, or astronomy figures.
