Sessions

A session keeps your messages, the replies, and the tool receipts. Receipts are the record of what ran: a read, a write, a command, a search. They stay with the session on this machine.

There is no cloud sync. A session on one computer is not on another unless you copy it yourself.

Find one again

You can list sessions, resume the last one, or resume one by name. Rename when the default name is no longer useful. The name is yours. It does not have to match the folder.

Export writes a transcript with secrets removed. Keys that appeared in a tool call are not left in the export. Check the file before you send it to someone else. The copy on disk, under sessions, is separate from the export.

The status line

The window shows four things while you work:

  • the folder
  • the mode
  • the model
  • the turn count

If the folder is wrong, you are not in the project you think you are. Open the folder again before you allow a plan.

Long sessions

A long session is compacted on the machine. Older turns are shortened so the next reply still fits. Compacting does not upload the transcript, and it does not delete the session. You can still resume it by name.

Transcripts live in the sessions folder in Files.
