Beanology
Beanology is the coffee reference, and the app selected when Platform opens. The line on the page reads BEANOLOGY // coffee reference.
It is a reading file: varieties, species, processing, sensory notes, and maps. It is not a shop, and it does not score a cup for you.
Tabs: HOME, BROWSE, VARIETY, COMPARE, SENSORY, MAP, SPECIES.
Home
Home shows a short count of what is on file, a briefing, and buttons that jump to the other tabs: OPEN BROWSE, OPEN MAP, OPEN COMPARE, and OPEN SENSORY. RELOAD CATALOG loads the file again.
The briefing says three species are on file: Arabica, Robusta, and Liberica. Excelsa is a Liberica variety, not a fourth species. Sensory notes are common descriptors, not lab cupping scores. There are no variety-level certifications in this reference. A number uses the variety when one is on file, and otherwise a typical value for the species. Region map pins are producing areas with a known location.
If the file cannot be read, the panel says “Couldn't load the coffee catalog. Try reload.”
Browse
SEARCH matches a name, an alternate name, or a genetic group. Filters apply together: SPECIES, COUNTRY, REGION, PROCESSING, SENSORY NOTE, an altitude band (ALT MIN masl and ALT MAX masl), STATURE, BEAN SIZE, YIELD POTENTIAL, and the resistance labels CLR, CBD, and NEMATODE. EXPERIMENTAL PROCESSING ONLY keeps that subset.
Open a row from OPEN VARIETY, then OPEN DETAIL. Some varieties have few region links, so a tight filter can return a short list. That is the file, not a broken search.
Variety
VARIETY is one record. Choose the name. Until you do, the panel says NO VARIETY SELECTED. Empty facts are left out: no producing-area links, no processing methods, no numeric measures, no origins. The page also says there are no variety-level certifications in this reference.
Compare
COMPARE takes two to four varieties. Until you do, it says SELECT 2–4 VARIETIES. It does not rank a best coffee.
Sensory
Pick a NOTE or a PROFILE. A missing note says NOTE NOT FOUND. No profile says NO PROFILE SELECTED. INTENSITY is the chart for the profile you picked. These are descriptors, not a lab score.
Map
Pick a REGION or a COUNTRY. Until you do, the panel says to select one. A region that is not in the catalog says so. Pins are only for producing areas with a known location.
Species
SPECIES summarises the species on file and how processing sits across them.
