Search

Forge has two selectors, used in order. Both work by name.

Object selection​

Object selection is the collection. It sits at the top of the page. Open it, then pick one label. The list is sorted A to Z.

You can change collection at any time. The item you had open does not carry over, because it belonged to the previous catalog.

Item search is the record. It appears after a collection is selected. Start typing a name. Matching labels narrow as you type. Select one to open its profile.

Search the name people use. A ticker, an element symbol, or a scientific name may be part of the label when that is how the record is told apart. You do not search by a hidden identifier.

If the collection has no records, the search box is not offered. The page explains that nothing is on file.

Filters​

The shared collections (everything under “Also listed” on the collections page) add Browse and Filter when you have not yet picked a record, and keep that list available under the profile after you do.

Each filter is a multi-select named for the fact it narrows: status, origin, species, and so on. Choose one or more values. The list keeps records that match every filter you set. A caption under the filters tells you how many of the loaded records remain, for example “12 of 40 loaded records.”

Clear a filter by removing its values. There is no separate reset button.

Specialised collections — Commodities, Companies, Countries, Electric Vehicles, Elements, and Star Systems — do not use that filter grid. You find the record with item search, then use the extra selectors on the profile (a property, a specification, a line item, a species, a grade).

What the written notes are doing​

Before you pick a record, a short note introduces the collection and tells you to choose something. After you pick one, the note describes that record. The wording is fixed guidance written for the page. It does not change because you asked it something. You cannot ask it something.

If a page cannot be drawn, Forge shows a short error and keeps the rest of the site usable. Choose the collection again, or pick another record.
