Related records

Related records are other names connected to the one you are reading. Forge shows them on the profile, in words, not as codes.

On a shared profile

After the facts, a Relationships section appears when anything is connected. Each block has a plain heading, such as Aliases, Traits, Growing regions, Processing methods, End uses, Sources, or Graphics cards. The rows use names. Open the idea of the connection from that table: a variety’s region, a breed’s trait, a processor’s socket, a model’s family.

You stay on the profile you started from. The list of the collection remains underneath, so the next record is another name in the same catalog, or a name you go and search in a different collection.

Graphics cards name their processor. Processors can list graphics cards. Galaxies sit behind star systems. Coffee varieties name species, origins, and sensory notes. Follow the name that is written down.

Commodities

For a commodity that has byproducts, Related commodities is a two-column table: the kind of relationship, and the other commodity’s name. You will see lines such as “Byproduct of …” and “… is a byproduct of.” Search that other name in Commodities to open it.

Coffee, grains, and crude oil also unfold inward: species, varieties, or grades that belong to the commodity. Those are still names in a search box or a table. Choosing one does not replace the commodity you started with; it adds the next layer on the same page.

Star systems

A star system profile lists the stars recorded in it, then the planets. Read them there. The galaxy is named on the profile itself. To browse galaxies as their own catalog, choose Galaxies in object selection.

Measurements that were never observed are absent. Forge does not draw a planet or a star that is not in the system you opened.

Names, not identifiers

Navigation is by the label in the search box and the name in the table. A ticker, an element symbol, or a country code may be printed because people already know the thing that way. You never need a private row number to move from one record to the next.
